EASA Type rating examiner

Flight training in order to obtain type rating examiner - TRE(A) certificate with TRE privileges for Cessna C525 Citation must be provided by a flight school - ATO in accordance with an approved examiner training course. Examiner training generally consists of theoretical knowledge instruction as well as practical part. Flight training in order to obtain type rating examiner - TRE(A) with privileges to Cessna C525 Citation certificate is usually called examiner standardization course.

Type rating examiner requirements

A type rating examiner - TRE(A) certificate for Cessna C525 Citation must meet requirements outlined in Regulation No 1178/2011, Part FCL - FCL.1010 and AMC1 FCL.1010.

Pursuant to FCL.1005.TRE, the type rating examiner - TRE(A) for Cessna C525 Citation can administer license skill tests - LST and license proficiency checks - LPC for Cessna C525 Citation as well as the assessments of competence - AOC for the type rating instructor - TRI(A) and synthetic flight instructor - SFI(A) all on type - Cessna C525 Citation family.

The type rating examiner - TRE(A) for Cessna C525 Citation can also administer instrument rating - IR(A) revalidation and renewal for Cessna C525 Citation family variants.

A prerequisite is that the type rating examiner - TRE(A) for Cessna C525 Citation meets FCL.1010.TRE(a)(2) requirements including having flown at least 500 hours out of which at least 200 hours as a pilot in command in single pilot airplanes.

The regulations also require minimum flight hours as an instructor in case an applicant aims to obtain type rating examiner - TRE(A) for the first time. In that case, the type rating examiner - TRE(A) applicant is required to have at least 50 hours as an instructor in airplane or in Cessna C525 Citation FSTD.

Furthermore, the type rating examiner - TRE(A) candidate for Cessna C525 Citation must also be a holder of commercial pilot license - CPL(A) or airline transport pilot license - ATPL(A), and hold a type rating instructor TRI(A) certificate for Cessna C525 Citation.

Type rating examiner - TRE(A) for Cessna C525 Citation is allowed to provide the EASA checkrides on Cessna C525 Citation only.

Type rating examiner training

Cessna C525 Citation type rating examiner - TRE(A) candidate must undertake a examiner standardization course pursuant to FCL.1015. The course is provided either by a national aviation authority (NAA), or by an EASA flight school - ATO.

The flight examiner standardization course consists of theoretical knowledge instruction as well as practical part and includes at least:

  • training focused on state-level administrative procedures, GDPR, responsibilities, and insurance;
  • explanation on how to access all the aforementioned documents in case of need.

Cessna C525 Citation type rating examiner - TRE(A) certificate holde must not administer license skill tests – LST or license proficiency checks – LPC or the assessments of competence - AOC in case their country of issuance differs from the applicant's state of license issue - SOLI, unless the type rating examiner - TRE(A) is familiar with up to date information concerning state-level procedures of the applicant's state of license issue - SOLI.

TRE(A) assessment of competence

After finishing the typerating examiner training, the type rating examiner candidate has to pass the examiner assessment of competence to obtain the privileges of type rating examiners - TRE(A) for Cessna C525 Citation.

Pursuant to FCL.1020, the Cessna C525 Citation type rating examiner - TRE(A) candidate must demonstrate his skills to an national aviation authority inspector or a senior examiner, who is authorized to administer the examiner assessment of competence by a respective national aviation authority to provide license skill tests – LST or license proficiency checks – LPC or the assessment of competence - AOC.
