ICAO English Revalidation
ICAO English exam is not meant to differ whether it is applicant' first exam, or the applicant has already passed the exam in the past. It is always administered as if it were applicant's first language proficiency exam and former present ICAO LEVELS do not influence the exam process, nor the exam results.
ICAO English is revalidated by the aviation authority of the applicant's country of license issuance. Generally speaking, the aviation authority issues a new license with new ICAO English validity period.
ICAO English Exam
In compliance with ICAO requirements the ICAO English exam is divided into a number of sections. The whole examination takes between 25-40 minutes.
- conversation (interview)
- aeronautical phraseology and communication
- aviation theme picture description (visual analysis)
- reading and translation of text with aviation focus
- listening and reproduction of recording (audio/video) with aviation content
ICAO English Rating
ICAO English exam rating can be performed real-time during the aviation English exam itself. The ICAO English exam rating must be performed by two independent Aero Language professionals - a language proficiency examiner (LPE) and a language proficiency rater (LPR).
Each of them rates individual parts of aviation English exam. If ICAO English exam is performed with both the language proficiency examiner (LPE) and a language proficiency rater (LPR) present, the results of your ICAO English exam are known practically immediately after the aviation English exam.
In case only one language proficiency examiner is present during the ICAO English exam, we strive to rate your ICAO language proficiency exam within 72 hours. You can expect the results of your ICAO English exam after the 72-hour-period at the latest, .
The individual parts of ICAO English exam are rated by both the language proficiency examiner (LPE) and a language proficiency rater (LPR) of Aero Language on a ICAO English rating scale from ICAO Level 1 to ICAO Level 6. The lowest ICAO English LEVEL out of the different parts received will be the final ICAO English LEVEL of your ICAO English exam. In other words, the lowest level out of all ICAO Exam levels will be your ICAO English proficiency Level. In case the language proficiency examiner (LPE) and a language proficiency rater (LPR) do not agree on the final ICAO Exam level, language proficiency exam rating must be performed by another Aero Language professional.
